OLD GREENWICH RESIDENCE
Old Greenwich, Connecticut
Project Type
New Residential
Project Scope
A new high-end residential home, approximately 8,500 sq. ft., with a central 3rd-floor attic space and elevator accessing all 3 levels. The location of this home places it in the flood zone, therefore a rat slab and crawlspace were incorporated with flood vents to allow the passage of water during a flood event.
The superstructure consists of wood and steel framing with a brick masonry veneer. To minimize the amount of steel framing yet still achieve longer spans, a flitch beam was utilized at the main roof ridge. The exterior flagstone terraces are designed as two-way cast-in-place slabs and steel moment frames allow for the large expanse of glass between the family room and southeastern terrace.
