Wesley Velo, P.E.

Associate

A graduate of Manhattan College and former Cuono intern, Wesley has several years of experience in investigations and structural design.  His project experience extends to a wide variety of structure types ranging from high-end residential homes, mixed-use buildings, historic structures, and telecommunication towers. Since joining the firm, Wesley has worked on a multitude of projects, including 4 World Trade Center, The Woolworth Building, The Shepard, and various NYC rowhouses and loft buildings. He greatly enjoys the engineering of commercial buildings, whether it's new construction or renovation.

Wesley decided he wanted to become a structural engineer to be a part of something significant. Structural engineers have the capability to understand theoretical mathematics and physics and apply it to everyday life. Through this applied science, they are at the forefront of advancing technology and making people’s lives better and safer. The most rewarding part of his job is seeing his projects completed and pointing them out to friends and family.

One of Wesley's career highlights was presenting at the Structures Congress in Orlando, FL on Structural Investigations and Practical Tips for Investigating Archaic Systems. When he's not helping to design and keep our buildings safer, Wes enjoys driving and restoring his 1995 BMW M3.

One of Wesley's Favorite Projects:

A gut renovation at a historic building in Manhattan. The location and scope of the project presented some unique challenges due to working in a confined area and adjacent occupied areas. This coordination resulted in working closely with the contractor to provide feasible solutions.
